TROY- Troy University Chancellor Jack Hawkins, Jr. has been named chair of the Committee on International Education of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Board of Directors.

Hawkins’ committee leadership appointment will begin this fall and last until November 2006. Appointments are given to member presidents and chancellors.

AASCU represents more than 400 public colleges, universities and systems of higher education throughout the United States and its territories. AASCU schools enroll more than 3 million students or 55 percent of the enrollment at all public four-year institutions.

The annual AASCU meeting will be held in Scottsdale , Ariz , and will afford the new committees an opportunity to set agendas for the upcoming year.

Dr. Hawkins has served as Chancellor of Troy University since 1989. He has served as vice-chairman of the Committee on International Education since 2003.
