—The Kinesiology and Health Promotions Club (KHP Club) has been awarded the Willis J. Baughman Award for outstanding school and community service.
This award is given by the Alabama State Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (ASAHPERD). The award is given to an affiliated club that demonstrates outstanding leadership and service to school and community.
“The criteria for the award also requires the club to be involved in fund raising and community education,” said Dr. Candice Howard, one of the club’s advisors. “We congratulate the KHP Club and its members for their achievements.”
The KHP Club at
Troy
University
is comprised of Physical Education, Health/ Physical Education and Sports and Fitness Management majors within the Dept. of Kinesiology and Health Promotion. It has 55 members and is advised by Howard and Dr. Gayle Bush. The club will receive an engraved plaque and the club’s name will be engraved on the state plaque.
In addition to the club’s award, two members will receive individual recognition. Emily Insinga, a senior health/physical education major from Hope Hull and KHP Club vice-president, will be awarded the ASAHPERD Student Professional Development Award. KHP Club President Laura Prior, a senior health/physical education major from Opp, will be awarded the ASAHPERD Outstanding Student Award.
