TROY—The Troy University Department of Political Science will sponsor a moderated panel discussion titled “Terrorism, The United States and World Order” at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24 in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor on the Troy Campus.
“Americans tend to know about domestic issues, but have a very limited knowledge about foreign affairs,” said Dr. James Rinehart, chair of the political science department. “This program is designed to engage the audience in the discussion.”
According to Rinehart, the four panelists will speak for about 15 minutes each and then the program will conclude with a 30 minutes question and answer session. The panel members are Dr. James Albritton, associate professor of criminal justice; Dr. Ellen Rosell, associate professor of public administration; Dr. Steven Taylor, associate professor of international relations and Dr. James Rinehart.
This event is part of the nationwide “The People Speak” program and is funded by a grant from the United Nations Foundation. The program began in 2003 to raise the level of knowledge about America’s role in the world.
This year’s panel discussion marks the second time that Troy University has participated in the program. Last year’s event, the panel discussion “America’s Global War on Terror: Three Years In,” drew an audience of 140 people.
The event is free and open to the public.
