Senior World to Hold Fall Conference at Troy University

DOTHAN - Wiregrass residents over the age of 50 can gain valuable computer skills, learn to arrange flowers or explore legal issues at the Fall 2005 Senior World Conference at Troy University. The exciting one-day event, which is co-sponsored by Outback Steak House and Coca Cola, is scheduled for Friday, October 7, on the Dothan Campus.

This year’s theme is “It’s Magic, A Zest for Learning and Life.” Check-in begins at 7 a.m. at Sony Hall. The conference runs from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Participants will be able to choose three sessions to attend. From CPR to horticulture and “do-it-yourself” tips, there will be something for everyone. Seniors will also have opportunities to “earn” special auction money which can be used to bid on items at the end of the day.

The Senior World program was developed on the Dothan Campus to promote continued learning for those over the age of 50. The Senior World Group also provides area seniors with opportunities to socialize.

To sign up for the conference, contact the Troy University Continuing Education Center at (334) 983-0005. The cost to pre-register is $10, which covers lunch, morning and afternoon breaks and prizes. Registration the day of the conference, space permitting, will be $15. Businesses or groups interested in exhibit space and sponsorships are asked to contact Mike Tew at (334) 983-0005.
