Troy University nursing students and faculty deployed to hurricane-stricken Hattiesburg, Miss.

TROY -Troy University School of Nursing students and faculty  are scheduled to arrive Thursday, September 1, in Hattiesburg , MS , to help with the relief efforts of Hurricane Katrina.

The students decided to volunteer after hearing about a similar situation at Flowers Hospital in Dothan . The students will be helping nurses at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg , MS , said Bernita Hamilton, Director of the School of Nursing .

"Much-needed medical supplies will also be delivered to Forest General Hospital in Hattiesburg ," Dr. Hamilton said. 

Troy Regional Medical Center and Lakeview Hospital in Eufaula donated the supplies for delivery by the faculty and students.

The students and faculty involved with this trip are; Carolyn Andrews, faculty; Dr. Don Jeffrey, faculty; Dr. Amy Spurlock, faculty; Milton Craig Cassady of Chancellor, AL.
