MEDIA ADVISORY: Cournoyer to lecture on Troy Campus
   

EDITORS/NEWS DIRECTORS: Native American artist Gerald Cournoyer, whose exhibit is now showing in TROY’s Malone Gallery, will conduct a lecture at 4:30 p.m. today in Malone Gallery on the Troy Campus.

Biographical Information

Gerald Cournoyer was born in 1966 in Wagner, S.D. Cournoyer is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, Pine Ridge, S.D. Upon completion of high school, Cournoyer enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving four years and was honorably discharged in 1989. He received degrees from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, N.M., a bachelor of fine arts from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, and a master of art from the University of South Dakota in 1999. Cournoyer has a master of fine arts in painting from the University of Oklahoma in Norman and is currently teaching painting and drawing at OU.
