TROY – Troy University Theatre will present Williams Shakespeare’s Hamlet April 20 -22 in the Trojan Center Theatre.
The performance schedule includes a special performance on April 21 for area high schools and middle schools.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. each night and 10 a.m. for the school performance.
Revenge, murder, suicide, deceit and power are just a few words to describe this infamous tragedy about the Prince of Denmark. Hamlet, son of the late King Hamlet, has just been informed by his father’s ghost that he did not die accidentally, but was in fact murdered by Hamlet’s uncle, Claudius. Already upset that Claudius married his mother—Queen Gertrude—only two months after his father’s death, Hamlet begins to struggle with the question: is he insane or is he not? Either way, he must prove that his father was murdered.
“Hamlet” will be directed by Adena Moree, director of Troy University Theatre, and Tori Lee, a student at TROY. The set is designed by Yoon Jeong Kim, costume design by sophomore Bethanie Wampol and lighting design by Chris Rich.
Tickets are $5 for the general public and free for TROY students (with I.D.). Tickets are on sale now in the Trojan Center Box Office (334-670-3293) and can also be purchased at the door on the night of the performance.
