TROY – The Troy University John M. Long School of Music will be showcasing seven students in the Spring 2006 Honors Recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor.
Student musicians include: La’Roy Bodiford on alto saxophone, a freshman music education major from Luverne; Rebecca Dumas on trombone, a freshman music education major from Pensacola, Fla.; Melanie Hanlon on trumpet, a senior elementary education major from Interlachen, Fla.; Jeremy Leach on horn, a senior music education major from Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; Jessica Smith singing soprano, a junior music education major from Tallassee; Ashley Swenning on flute, a sophomore music education major from Pratville; and Daniel Walden on tuba, a senior music education major from Pinson.
According to James Zingara, assistant professor of music at Troy University, the selected students had to first be recommended by their private instructors and then win an audition before a panel of Troy University music faculty.
“This is a biennial formal concert to feature outstanding individual performers,” said Zingara.
The recital is free and open to the public.
