TROY – Troy University’s Sorrell College of Business has named Dr. Steve Grice as director of the Troy University School of Accountancy.
Dr. Earl Ingram, dean of the Sorrell College of Business, said Grice’s appointment was effective immediately.
Grice, who earned a bachelor of science in accounting from TROY, joined the University’s faculty in 1997 and has taught both graduate and undergraduate accounting courses on the Troy Campus. In 2003, Dr. Grice was honored as the first recipient of the University’s Wallace D. Malone, Jr. Distinguished Faculty Award, and earned the Alabama Society of CPAs’ Thomas A. Ractliffe Outstanding Discussion Leader Award in 2002 and 2005.
In 1998, Dr. Grice was honored as the Business Professor of the Year awarded by the Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity of the Sorrell College of Business. His articles have been published in the Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Journal of Business Research, Advances in Accounting, The CPA Journal, The Journal of 21rst Century Accounting, Southern Business & Economic Journal, National Public Accountant, Ohio CPA Journal, Today's CPA, Business Quest, Tennessee CPA, and the TSU Business and Economic Review.
Since joining the Troy University faculty, Dr. Grice has designed professional education courses on various accounting topics that he has taught for local and regional CPA firms. In addition, Dr. Grice has taught continuing professional education courses for both the Alabama Society of CPAs and the Mississippi Society of CPAs. He also has designed Internet based Executive Master of Business Administration accounting courses that are taught exclusively through Internet capabilities. Dr. Grice currently serves as a scholar-in-residence for the firm of Carr, Riggs, & Ingram, LLC and routinely provides technical consultation to numerous other firms.
Prior to earning a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Alabama, Dr. Grice was employed by the accounting firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers [Coopers & Lybrand legacy]. As a CPA in the business assurance division of Coopers & Lybrand, he serviced clients in the banking, healthcare and manufacturing industries. While at the University of Alabama, he was the Doctoral Consortium Fellow at the American Accounting Association Doctoral Consortium in Tahoe City, Calif., sponsored by the accounting firm of Deloite & Touche. As a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Dr. Grice received the highest honor awarded a doctoral candidate in the College of Commerce and Business Administration at The University of Alabama.
