Townsend to address 15th Accountancy Day program at Troy University

Noted author and speaker, Bryan Townsend will address the 15th annual Accountancy Day program to be held Sept. 7 at the Troy Campus.

Townsend, a professional speaker and writer from northeast Alabama who has spoken in over 500 cities across the nation, will speak during the awards luncheon.  He has authored several books including: Life is An Adventure, Making Good Things Happen, How to Get Raises and Promotions and Selling in the Bear Woods.

Through his career, Townsend has worked as a carpenter, electrician, radio disc jockey, commercial fisherman, real estate developer, salesman manager, business owner, play-by-play sports announcer, newspaper columnist, news reporter, talk show host, professional speaker, writer and commentator.

Townsend is an inductee of the National Speakers Association’s Speaker Hall of Fame.  Less than 200 individuals have achieved this honor.  Some of Townsend’s fellow inductees include: Art Linkletter, Norman Vincent Peale, Zig Ziglar and Ronald Reagan.

Events will begin with a practitioner/guest reception followed by practitioners teaching workshops from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in Bibb Graves Hall on the Troy Campus.

At noon, an awards luncheon recognizing sponsors, featured practitioners and outstanding accounting students will be held in the Trojan Center Ballrooms. During this time, the Young Alumnus of the Year in Accounting and Accounting Hall of Honors Inductees will be named.

Steven Grice, director and associate professor for the School of Accountancy, said that over the past 14 years, the awards luncheon has routinely brought an excess of 250 attendees.

“The 2006 Accountancy Day Program will be very exciting as we award numerous scholarships to our students and induct three awesome professionals into the Troy University Accounting Hall of Honor,” Grice said.
