Senior World to Hold Spring Conference at Troy University

DOTHAN – Area seniors are invited to “Discover the Exciting World of Learning,” during the Spring 2006 Senior World Conference at Troy University. Wiregrass residents over the age of 50 can gain valuable computer skills, learn low impact exercises and explore legal issues during the one-day event, which will be held March 2 on the Dothan Campus.

Check-in begins at 7 a.m. in the Library/Technology Building, and the conference gets underway at 8 a.m. Participants can chose three sessions. From flower arranging to conversational Spanish and personal safety tips, there is something for everyone.

Seniors will also have opportunities to “earn” special auction money, which can be used to bid on items at the end of the day. The event, which is sponsored by Outback Steakhouse and Coca Cola, concludes at 4 p.m.

The Senior World program was developed on the Dothan Campus to promote continued learning for those over the age of 50. The Senior World Group also provides area seniors with opportunities to socialize.

To sign up for the conference, contact the Troy University Continuing Education Center at (334) 983-0005. The cost to pre-register is $10, which covers lunch by Outback Steakhouse, morning and afternoon breaks and prizes. Registration the day of the conference, space permitting, will be $15. Businesses or groups interested in exhibit space are asked to contact Mike Tew at mtew@troy.edu.
