TROY – T.R. Miller High School took top honors in Class 3A and under Scholar Bowl competition Friday at Troy University.
Student teams from T.R. Miller High School, Reeltown High School, Lanett High School, Luverne High School, Dadeville High School, Headland High School, Houston County High School, Edward Bell High School, and Horseshoe Bend High School squared off against each other in academic competition covering categories in math, science, history, literature and grammar, said Dr. John Kline, director of the University’s Institute for Leadership Development.
Houston County High School, the second-place finisher, will also advance to regional competition in the Alabama Scholastic Competition Association’s annual competition.
T.R. Miller swept the tournament with no losses in the nine-round competition that slated the teams against one another. Houston County had only one loss on the day – giving up one round to Miller.
Other finishes were: Headland, 6 wins, Luverne, 5 wins, Lanett, 2 wins, Reeltown, 3 wins, Dadeville, 3 wins, Horseshoe Bend, 2 wins and Edward Bell, no wins.
Both T.R. Miller and Houston County advance to the ASCA’s regional Scholars Bowl competition.
