Odyssey Convocation to welcome new Troy University students on Aug. 20

TROY, Ala. – Tax attorney and Troy University alumna Stacey Mesler will help new TROY students begin their college “Odyssey” at 3 p.m. on Aug. 20 in Trojan Arena.

Odyssey serves as the official welcoming and convocation for new TROY students, and Mesler will provide the session’s keynote address. A parents’ reception will follow in the Trojan Tower Stadium Club.

“Odyssey provides us the opportunity to illustrate the traditions that make college life enjoyable,” said Buddy Starling, dean of admissions. “We are very fortunate to be able to bring in outstanding alumni like Stacey Mesler to share how their TROY experience has helped them to be successful.”

Mesler, a tax attorney with the New York City law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, LLP, advises a broad range of clients on various U.S. Federal income tax issues arising in corporate and financial transactions. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Troy University in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in speech and theatre and Summa Cum Laude from The New York Law School in 2002.

While at TROY, Mesler was a member of Alpha Psi Omega, the national academic honor society of theatre majors, and performed in numerous theatre productions.

During her time in law school, Mesler served as executive notes and comments editor for the New York Law School Law Review. She was the recipient of numerous awards including a Dean’s Scholarship, a New York Law School Scholarship for Academic Achievement, a New York Law School Public Interest Fellowship and the New York Law School Law Review Award for Outstanding Editorial Achievement.

Before attending law school, Mesler worked as an actor in New York City. She recently appeared in a production of The Shadow Box at the Ridgefield Theater Barn in Ridgefield, Conn.
