EDITORS/NEWS DIRECTORS: Troy University’s Summer Commencement is 10:30 a.m. Aug. 4 in Sartain Hall. Gov. Bob Riley will provide the keynote address. Please make plans to attend this event. We would request all cameras and reporters be in place no later than 10 a.m. Reserved seating for the media will be available and, as always, if there are any special requirements for your coverage please let us know in advance.
ALSO, following commencement will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Student Housing Complex. This will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 at the construction site near the corner of University Avenue and Folmar Street. Slated to offer comments are Senior Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Dr. John Schmidt, Board of Trustees member Lamar Higgins, Chancellor Jack Hawkins Jr. and Gov. Riley. This facility will increase by 524 the on-campus housing capacity of the Troy Campus.
IMMEDIATELY following the groundbreaking ceremony, the Troy University Board of Trustees will meet at 2 p.m. in the third floor conference room in the General Academic Building.
We would invite any media representatives attending the day’s activities to lunch with us in the Stewart Dining Hall. Meal passes will be available through the University Relations Office. Please contact the UR office to RSVP for lunch.
