TROY – A Troy University eCampus administrator has been named a “Great Woman of the 21st Century” for her work in distance learning.
Dr. Sallie Johnson, director of instructional design and educational technologies, at the University’s eCampus and former dean of distance learning on the Troy Campus, was nominated for the award for her work in pioneering the Securexam Remote Proctor.
Only those who received recognition as a 2005 Woman of the Year were eligible for the award from the Governing Board of Editors of the American Biographical Institute, which conducted a telephone interview and reviewed her published article “Striving for Excellence – Ensuring Online Testing Integrity” that detailed her development of the Securexam Remote Proctor. She received her award in the area of Educational Technologies.
Securexam Remote Proctor will authenticate the identity of the student taking a test, ensure that student is unable to use the computer to cheat during an exam and provide real-time audio and video of the room where the test is taken. The device was co-developed by Software Secure, Inc. TROY is one of the nation’s leading providers of distance learning and is the second-largest provider of education in the Defense Department’s eArmyU program.
