TROY – NASCAR fans who want to get an up-close look at one of the cars the pros drive should make plans to visit Troy University Wednesday, April 5, as the area recruiting office of the U.S. Air Force will display the car it sponsors in the Nextel Cup series.
Sgt. Michael Forehand of the USAF recruiting office in Troy said the car will be on public display from9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. outside the Trojan Center. There is no admission charge to see the number 21 car, driven by Ken Schrader of the Wood Brothers Racing Team. Troy University’s Air Force ROTC Detachment is co-sponsoring the event, according to Lt. Col Ivan Merritt, chair of the aerospace studies department at the University.
“This is primarily a recruitment event for the local office, but any time the Air Force gets visibility, ROTC benefits,” Merritt said. “We will have our people on hand to help answer questions about the Air Force and our ROTC program.
