Media Advisory: Lt. Gen. Honore availability at commencement

EDITORS/NEWS DIRECTORS: The Troy Campus commencement begins at 10:30 a.m. in Sartain Hall on the Troy Campus. Some 500 students from 17 states and 12 countries are expected to take part in graduation.

The keynote speaker is Lt. Gen. Russel L. Honoré, the Army general who commanded Hurricane Katrina emergency operations in New Orleans and a TROY graduate.

General Honoré will be available for media interviews during a 15-minute period immediately following commencement. If weather permits, this opportunity will take place outside Sartain Hall in the grassy area on the side closest to Dill Hall (opposite of the tailgate terrace). In the case of inclement weather, the interview opportunity will take place inside Sartain Hall in the Trojan Room (under the stands on the Pace Hall side of the arena).

Because this spring’s commencement is large, we’d ask that all reporters and cameras be in place no later than 10 a.m. Media seating will be available at the scorer’s table on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please contact the University Relations Office no later than Wednesday, May 3 to confirm a seat in Sartain Hall. As always, any special requests may be emailed to clusk@troy.edu or phoned in at 670-3196.
