TROY – The Troy Arts Council and Troy University Theatre department will begin its season with Man of Constant Sorrow at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 in Claudia Crosby Theatre.
The season will run through July with shows including Shelia Jackson & Gospel Choir Concert, Night at the Opera, Sounds of the Seasons Holiday Concert, Vienna Choir Boys, Brass Symposium Concert, The Letterman, Chamber Choir Concert, Concert Band, Collegiate Singers Concert, Outdoor Band Concert and Troy Fest.
Man of Constant Sorrow, The Story of the Stanley Brothers, follows the struggle of Carter Stanley and his brother, Ralph. From their Appalachian mountain beginnings on local television and radio to the formation of Clinch Mountain Boys bluegrass band, the show is a journey through their lives and their determination to succeed against all odds. Ralph endures a life of obscurity, following the untimely death of his brother Carter. After a long road, Ralph is finally catapulted into the mainstream with the release of “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” soundtrack from the movie.
