TROY – Troy University will host the 3rd Annual Geographic Information Systems Symposium Oct. 31 – Nov. 1.
The University’s geomatics program, which teaches students the latest land surveying sciences, will team with Auburn University to co-host the event that presents a common forum for presentations and discussions in the use of GIS in Alabama and its neighboring states, said Dr. Steve Ramroop, who directs the geomatics program.
“The intention of the symposium is in promoting and encouraging the presentation of quality research papers in the field of spatial information science,” he said.
This year’s symposium will consist of workshops, presentations, poster presentations and also give GIS students and professionals the opportunity to network.
GIS marries field surveying, mapping and computer analysis to create accurate surveys of land.
