October 19, 2006 TROY ISA to hold “Festival of Lights” TROY – The TROY Indian Student Association (ISA) will be holding Diwali, the “Festival of Lights,” for students and the public from 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 22. Diwali, a festival held in celebration of the Hindu New Year, will consist of cultural activities such as native dances and a fashion show displaying traditional Indian dress. Guests will also be provided a “taste of India” through a full-course Indian meal. Tanveer Alam Azmi, president of the ISA, said this is the second year Diwali has been held. “People will get the chance to experience Indian culture. It will be fun,” he said. The event will be held at the Baptist Student Center (BCM) on Collegedale Street. Tickets are $6 for students and $10 for the general public and can be purchased through Debbie Davis, director of International Student Life, at 670-5965 or by stopping by 129 Pace Hall at TROY.
