Troy University plans week of Homecoming activities

TROY, Ala. – Troy University will celebrate its 2006 Homecoming on Saturday, Nov. 4, under the theme “TROY’s Got Game.”

Activities will get under way on Nov. 4 with the annual Homecoming parade, which will begin at 10 a.m. and process through downtown Troy. Following the parade, various tailgating activities will take place throughout campus. The Homecoming court will be introduced during pre-game festivities at 2:30 p.m. in Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium. The Trojans will take on the University of Louisiana-Lafayette beginning at 3 p.m.

Halftime activities will include the crowning of the Homecoming king and queen, presentation of the Alumni and Honorary Alumnus of the Year awards and performances by the Alumni Band and Troy University’s Sound of the South marching band.

TROY’s Homecoming celebration marks a special time in the life of the University, according to Alumni Affairs Director Faith Ward.

“Homecoming is a great opportunity for our alumni to return to campus to reunite with former classmates, see the great things that are happening here at TROY and enjoy some great Trojan football action,” Ward said. “We look forward to having our alumni join us for this wonderful celebration of Trojan spirit.”

During the week leading up to Homecoming, campus organizations will compete in different events to earn points toward winning Homecoming honors.  “This year’s Homecoming theme, “Troy’s Got Game,” will show students that Troy University’s football tem is performing at new levels and is more competitive than ever,” said Lamar Martin, 2006 Homecoming director.
