Miss Troy University pageant set for Oct. 29

TROY, Ala.– Troy University will host the annual Miss Troy University Pageant Sunday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. in the Claudia Crosby Theater.

The winner of the pageant will receive numerous prizes including a one-year tuition scholarship and will represent Troy University in the Miss Alabama Pageant in Birmingham next June.

“This is an official Miss Alabama/Miss America Preliminary in which the contestant will compete in six categories: private interview, casual wear, swimsuit, talent, evening wear and on-stage question,” said Brenda Campbell, who helps to coordinate the annual pageant.

The emcee for this year’s pageant will be Aaron Taylor of TrojanVision news.  Mary King, the reigning Miss Troy University, will provide entertainment during the event.

The contestants competing in this year’s pageant and their talents are:

  • Morgan Rhodes, a freshman biology major from Troy, Ala., will be singing “I Enjoy Being a Girl”

  • Anna Hasenbein, a junior broadcast journalism major from Cullman, Ala., will be dancing to “Just Kiss Me”

  • Stephanie Hill, a junior criminal justice/English major from Calera, Ala., will be singing “Saved the Best for Last”

  • Julie Chapman, a freshman marketing major from Hoover, Ala., will be singing “I Am What I Am”

  • Kendra Willis, a freshman biology major from Bessemer, Ala., will be dancing to “Oowee Man”

  • Aderonke Olaleye, a sophomore business major from Randallstown, Md., will be singing “At Last”

  • Laura McDonald, a senior accounting major from Prattville, Ala., will be dancing to “Joyful, Joyful”

  • Amber Dodson, a senior nursing major from Cullman, Ala., will be doing a twirling routine to “Last Dance”

  • Elaina Lee, a junior biology major from Arab, Ala., will be dancing to “Someone Like You”

  • Allison Farrington, a sophomore general science education major from Andalusia, Ala., will be singing “Summertime”

  • Kathryn Hobgood, a sophomore elementary education major from Semmes, Ala., will be dancing to “Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down”

  • Ashlee Maddox, a sophomore nursing major from Thorsby, Ala., will be singing “Inside Your Heaven”

  • Jackie Crane, a sophomore political science/history/Spanish major from Geneva, Ala., will be singing “Why.”
