Troy University Theatre opens season with Lunchtime Cabaret

TROY – Lunchtime Cabaret will mark the opening of Troy University Theatre’s fall performance season at 11:45 a.m. Oct. 5 in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor and brings two nationally renowned artists to campus.

Michael Hix and his wife ethnomusicologist Dr. Margaret Jackson will headline the show featuring selections from this season’s upcoming musicals and other favorite show tunes. Hosted by the College of Communication and Fine Arts, Lunchtime Cabaret includes lunch.

“It’s a noontime feast of food, theater and musical delights featuring a soufflé of talent and the crème de la crème guest artists,” said Dr. Maryjo Cochran, the college’s dean. “The Theater Department is pleased to have the opportunity to feature these talented performers.”

Hix, a TROY instructor, is an Ozark native and holds a bachelor of music degree in music theory from Furman University with dual masters degrees in voice and historical musicology from Florida State University. He will complete requirements for the doctor of music degree in voice performance at FSU in fall of 2006.

Jackson holds her doctor of music in voice performance from FSU, a master of music and performer’s certificate in voice performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music and bachelor of arts degree in German from Birmingham-Southern College. Jackson is currently completing her doctorate degree in ethnomusicology at FSU.
