TROY – Troy University and the Troy Arts Council will host the Vienna Boys Choir Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Claudia Crosby Theatre.
The music performed will include medieval, contemporary and experimental music. General admission is $10 for students and $20 for adults.
The Vienna Boys Choir, a 500-year old choir, is from Vienna, Austria. Until 1918, the choir sang exclusively for the imperial courts, at mass, private concerts and functions on state occasions. The boys choir is a private institution and today there are about 100 choristers between the ages of 10 and 14. They are divided into four touring choirs and give about 300 concerts and performances each year in front of nearly half a million people. Each group spends nine to 11 weeks of the school year on tour and visits European countries, Asia, Australia and the Americas.
Tickets are on sale at WTBF Radio and the John M. Long School of Music.
