Troy University’s Chinese Student Association to welcome ‘Year of the Pig’

TROY, Ala. – Troy University’s Chinese Student Association will ring in the “Year of the Pig” on Feb. 24 during its annual Chinese New Year celebration. The celebration will be held at 6 p.m. in the Trojan Center Ballrooms on the Troy Campus.

Entertainment for the evening will include a Kung Fu exhibit, a sword dance, a fashion show, a magic show and a performance on the hulusi, a native instrument.

The event will be catered by Mr. Ho’s and Lee’s Chinese Buffet and will include foods not normally found on their menus including pig’s feet. Other dishes will include rice cakes and chicken and pork dishes.

Debbie Davis, coordinator of international student life and faculty advisor for the Chinese Student Association, said the annual celebration helps bring a taste of Chinese culture to TROY.

“This will give students a glimpse of China without actually traveling there,” Davis said.

Tickets for the event are $8 for students and $12 for adults and are available through any association officer or by contacting Debbie Davis 334-670-5965.
