TROY – Two all-brass concerts are slated from March 2 -3 as part of Troy University’s ninth-annual Brass Symposium, hosted by the University’s John M. Long School of Music and the Troy Arts Council.
On Friday, March 2, a concert featuring performances by Dr. Catherine Leach, trumpet, of the University of Tennessee, Dr. Marcus Dickman, euphonium, of the University of North Florida, and Dr. James Zingara, trumpet, of Troy University. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor and is free to the public.
On Saturday, March 3, the Festival of Brass Concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Claudia Crosby Theater. This concert is the columniation of activities of the Troy University Brass Symposium and features Drs. Leach, Dickman and Zingara as featured soloists, as well as the Troy University Concert Band under the direction of Dr. Mark Walker, the TROY Trumpet Ensemble and several honors ensembles comprised of area high school students. The concert is also free and open to the public.
“The event will offer the ceremony, scope and variety of a typical band concert and will conclude with a spectacular mass finale comprised of more than one hundred performers,” said Zingara.
The Troy University Brass Symposium offers a full day of clinics for middle school, high school and college-level students.
