Historical research subject of national history honorary meeting
   

TROY – Troy University will host the Phi Alpha Theta’s annual Alabama Regional Conference on March 3.

Phi Alpha Theta is the national history honors society, and the regional conference enables undergraduate, graduate and faculty from universities and colleges across the state to discuss historical research, said Dr. Timothy Buckner, an assistant professor of history who is helping to coordinate the event.

In addition to student and faculty presentations, Dr. Peter Caster, professor of film and English at he University of South Carolina-Upstate, will discuss representations of race in film, fiction and history during a luncheon in the Stadium Club.

Among the workshop topics are:

  • Rwandan Genocide
  • The Struggle for Empire in Colonial/Revolutionary North America
  • Politics and Constitutional Reform in 20th Century Alabama
  • U.S. Environmental History
  • Justifying War and Making Mythology
  • Civil Rights
  • Huate and Cold Wars: Transformations in Food and Fighting
  • Discovering the South(s)

The conference begins at 9 a.m. in the General Academic Building. Registration will take place in the lobby from 8 a.m. – 9 a.m.
