MONTGOMERY, ALA.—Troy University head football Coach Larry Blakeney will be the guest speaker for a kickoff celebration and pep rally hosted by the University’s Montgomery Metro Alumni Chapter on Monday, July 16 at Pete Peterson Lodge at Lagoon Park.

The doors will open at 5 p.m. with a barbecue dinner, catered by Boomer T’s Barbecue, beginning at 6 p.m. Barbecue plates are $10 per person. Alumni wishing to become members of the chapter may do so for $25 for individuals or $30 for couples.

Coach Blakeney will offer a look ahead to the upcoming football season, which features a visit to TROY by Oklahoma State on Sept. 14, road games against Arkansas (Sept. 1), Florida (Sept. 8) and Georgia (Nov. 3). The Trojans will be looking to defend their 2006 Sun Belt Conference championship and make a return trip to the New Orleans Bowl, the site of the program’s first ever bowl victory last December.

A special invitation is extended to former Trojan cheerleaders and football players.
