TROY Chancellor appointed to national advisory board

TROY – Troy University Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr. has been appointed to a national grants advisory board.

He will serve a two-year term as one of three university presidents on the American Association of State Colleges and University’s Grants Resource Center Advisory Board.

AASCU membership is comprised of 400 public colleges and universities nationwide and its Grant Resource Center affords member institutions an avenue to take advantage of funding opportunities among state and federal agencies and private foundations.

In addition to two other university presidents, Dr. Hawkins will join three university provosts and seven university sponsored programs or research officers on the advisory board.

According to Chris Bitting, AASCU vice president of membership services, the role of the presidents and provosts on the advisory board is to establish goals for operation and development of member programs, approving an annual GRC work plan and to support GRC marketing efforts to prospective institutional members.

“In all three functions, the perspectives of the presidents and provosts would be invaluable as AASCU moves to promote greater research activity among member institutions,” Bitting said.
