DOTHAN – Troy University will co-host a Disaster Preparedness Summit on its Dothan Campus with the Dothan/Houston County Emergency Management Agency June 7.
The summit, one of its kind to be held, will enhance the emergency response capabilities within the Wiregrass community, said Mike Tew, coordinator of business and industry training for the University’s Dothan Campus continuing education center.
“This will be a good opportunity for key personnel to network with those involved in our community and ensure that the best possible service is provided in times of natural or manmade disasters,” Tew said.
Attendees will participate in breakout session covering mutual aid, NIMS compliance and application, communications, managing donations and media affairs. Each session will be moderated by facilitators from outside the community and attendees will also be updated on the emergency operations centers structure, functions, the Hurricane Incident Action Plan and the Virtual Alabama Program.
The summit will begins at 7 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m. and opens in the Harrison Room of Malone Hall on the Dothan Campus located on Highway 231 North of Dothan. Lunch will be served to those preregistered.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required. For more information, contact the Troy University Continuing Education Center at 334-983-0005 or e-mail Mike Tew, mtew@troy.edu or Mary Davis mwdavis@troy.edu.
