TROY – “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” takes to the Troy University stage Friday and Saturday with three performances in the Claudia Crosby Theatre.
Friday’s show begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday show times are 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. All shows feature a cast of some 45 TROY students, community members and children in the musical comedy.
“Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” began life as a MGM musical in 1954. In 1981, the stage version was created and in 1982 the original Broadway version debuted, earning a 1983 Tony Award nominee for Best Original Score.
The musical is set in 1850s Oregon and is about “Millie,” a young bride who plans to civilize and marry off her six rowdy brothers-in-law in order to save her own marriage to the elder brother, “Adam.” The plan backfires when the brothers kidnap six women from a neighboring town to be their brides.
Tickets are $5 for students and $10 general admission, and may be purchased in the Trojan Center Box office. For more information about purchasing tickets, call the box office at 334-670-3293.
