TROY—Greek organizations at Troy University will hold their annual Greek Week Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the Trojan Center Ballrooms on the Troy Campus.
While the event is an annual part of the University’s Greek Week activities, this year’s blood drive takes on added emphasis, according to Barbara Patterson, director of student involvement/leadership.
“With Thursday’s outbreak of severe weather, most notably the tremendous toll on human life in Enterprise, Tuesday’s blood drive takes on new meaning,” Patterson said. “This is an annual part of our Greek Week activities because of the ongoing need for blood. However, the need for blood donations is magnified now because of the severe weather that affected much of Alabama on Thursday. We encourage area residents to take time out of there schedule to help us give the gift of life during this critical time.”
Patterson said those interested in making a blood donation may register and set up an appointment online at www.givelife.org and entering the zip code 36082. By selecting the Greek Week Blood Drive, donors will be given a list of available appointments from which to choose. Donors with appointments will be given priority on Tuesday, Patterson said.
In addition to the blood drive, TROY’s Greek organizations will be collecting donations in the Trojan Center Food Court area to assist victims of this week’s tornadoes.
