TROY-Alabama Attorney General Troy King will speak at Troy University’s “Salute to Armed Forces” ceremony on the main Quad on the Troy campus, Tuesday, March 13 from 11:30-12 p.m.
Faith Ward, director of Alumni Affairs and member of TROY’s Support Our Troops Committee, said the ceremony is an annual event that is held in conjunction with the efforts Chancellor Jack Hawkins, Jr., has made to increase support among Troy University for U.S. troops.
“We want the community to have an outlet or a place where they can show their support,” Ward explained.
The TROY Army and Air Force ROTC will present the colors to begin the ceremony. The program will follow with Attorney General King and additional speakers representing a variety of armed service branches. Speakers include: K.T. Cole, Marines; Capt. (Ret.) Dave Barron, Navy; Capt. James Holder, Army; and Lt. Col Ivan Merritt, Air Force.
The “Salute to Armed Forces” ceremony is free and open to the public.
King, who was elected Attorney General in 2004, holds a bachelor’s degree of history and social sciences from TROY. He also obtained a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. King is a member of many organizations including the Alabama State Bar, Alabama Law Institute, Washington Legal Foundation and Children First.
