TROY – Karl Rove, assistant to the president, White House deputy chief of staff and senior advisor, will speak to Troy University’s Hall School of Journalism annual M. Stanton Evans Symposium at 11 a.m. on March 15 in Claudia Crosby Theater.
Prior to his current appointment, Karl Rove served as chief strategist for the Bush-Cheney 2000 Presidential campaign and as president of Karl Rove & Company, an Austin, Texas-based public affairs firm.
He previously served as a member of the Board of International Broadcasting, which oversees operations of Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty, and served on the board of the McDonald Observatory. Karl also taught at the LBJ School of Public Affairs and in the Journalism Department at the University of Texas at Austin.
Evans, holder of the Buchanan Chair of Journalism for the Hall School of Journalism since 1980, graduated from Yale University with an English degree. He has held many prestigious positions in the journalism industry including editor of the Indianapolis News for 15 years, director of the National Journalism Center, columnist of the Los Angeles Times, and national commentator for CBS Radio News and National Public Radio. He is also the author of eight books, the latest being “The Theme is Freedom.”
