Malaysia college president visits Troy
May 9: Mr. Tang Chai Yoong, president of Putra International College, a private college in Malaysia and Troy University’s partner in Malaysia, will visit TROY. During commencement ceremonies (see below) on Friday, the Doctorate of Human Letters will be conferred on President Yoong. A media availability with President Yoong will take place at 3:15 p.m. in the Trojan Vision studios, first floor, Wallace Hall. This is only a 30-minute availability. Please contact the University Relations Office to confirm your attendance.
Board of Trustees meet in Montgomery
May 10: A regular meeting of the University’s Board of Trustees will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Civic Room on the Montgomery Campus. Trustees will hear a report on crisis response plan revisions from Senior Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs John Schmidt and discuss a resolution that would increase admissions standards for the University, among other items of business. Any questions regarding the Trustees meeting should be directed to Tom Davis or Clif Lusk at 334-670-3196.
Montgomery Campus commencement
May 10: Commencement on the Montgomery Campus will be at 7 p.m. in the Davis Theater. Air Force Brigadier General Edward Crowell, mobilization assistant to the commander, Air University, and senior vice president of Miltope Corp., will provide the keynote address. Troy Campus commencement in two ceremonies
May 11: Commencement on the Troy Campus will take place at 10:30 a.m. (undergraduate) and 2 p.m. (graduate). About 485 undergraduates and about 90 graduate students will participate in the day’s ceremonies. Ambassador Sichan Siv, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, will be the keynote speaker at both events. In addition, President Yoong, of Putra International College in Malaysia, will receive the Doctorate of Human Letters degree at the morning ceremony. Cameras and reporters are asked to be in place by 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for coverage. Any special coverage requirements should be directed to Clif Lusk or Tom Davis at 334-670-3196. Special Olympics
May 11: The Alabama State Games will commence with opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. in Movie Gallery Veterans Memorial Stadium.
May 12: The Alabama State Games will commence at 9 a.m. at various venues on the Troy Campus and in the community of Troy.

The games are open for coverage, however, Special Olympics does have coverage guidelines in place for references, nomenclature, history and facts. Both will be available by cell on Saturday or Sunday to help facilitate your coverage of the games.
Dothan Campus commencement
May 14: Major General Virgil L. Packett II, commanding general of the United States Army Aviation Warfighting Center and Fort Rucker, will be the keynote speaker at Troy University’s spring commencement on the Dothan Campus. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Dothan Civic Center, and 120 students are expected to participate. Please contact Clif Lusk or Tom Davis in the University Relations Office at 334-670-3196 with any special coverage needs. Reporters and cameras are asked to be in place by 10 a.m. for event coverage.
