Historian to Speak about Civil War Naval History at Troy University

DOTHAN – Join the Troy University History and Social Science Club November 8 on the Dothan Campus for an evening of discussion about Civil War naval history. Jeffrey Seymour, interim curator of the National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus, Ga., will be the guest speaker.

Seymour will provide information about the role sailors played in the Civil War, along with details about the museum and its collections. The lecture, which begins at 7 p.m. in Sony Hall in the Library/Technology Building, is free and open to the public. History buffs and students of all ages are encouraged to attend.

Port Columbus is home to an extensive collection of war relics. The museum brings history to life each year as visitors “enlist” during River Blast and discover what it was like to be a sailor in the 1860s.

For more information about the lecture or the Troy University History and Social Science Club, contact Dee Anna Jordan at (334) 714-9572.
