October 9, 2007 Troy University to celebrate Homecoming on Oct. 20 TROY, Ala.—Troy University will celebrate its Homecoming on Oct. 20, under the theme “Homecoming ’007: A Bonding Experience.”Activities will get under way on Oct. 20 with the annual Homecoming Parade, which will begin at 10 a.m. and process through downtown Troy. Following the parade, various tailgating activities will take place throughout campus. The Homecoming court will be introduced during pre-game festivities at 2 p.m. in Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium. The Trojans will take on North Texas beginning at 2:30 p.m. Halftime activities will include the crowning of the Homecoming king and queen, presentation of the Alumni and Honorary Alumnus of the Year awards and performances by the Alumni Band and Troy University’s Sound of the South marching band. “Homecoming is always a special time for Troy University and we want extend a warm invitation to our alumni to return to campus, take advantage of all of the special activities that are planned, reunite with former classmates and get a first-hand look at all of the exciting changes taking place on campus,” said Faith Ward, director of alumni affairs. “This year our theme is Homecoming ’007: A Bonding Experience, and we look forward to having our alumni and friends join us to renew those bonds from yesteryear and create new ones that will last a lifetime.” During the week leading up to Homecoming, campus organizations will compete in different events to earn points toward winning Homecoming honors. Homecoming Week Activities include: Monday, October 15 Banner Competition Skit and Superfan Competition, 7 p.m., Claudia Crosby Theater Wednesday, October 17 Homecoming King and Queen Elections Dance Competition, 7, Claudia Crosby Theater Thursday, October 18 Pep Rally, 6:30 p.m., Trojan Arena Friday, October 19 Soccer Tailgate, 1 p.m., Soccer Field Women’s Soccer team vs. Florida International, 3 p.m., Soccer Field Saturday, October 20 Homecoming Parade, 10 a.m., Downtown Troy University Trojan Walk, 12:30 p.m., beginning at Trojan Arena Homecoming Pre-Game festivities including the introduction of the Homecoming Court, 2 p.m., Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium Homecoming Football game vs. North Texas, 2:30 p.m., Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium Halftime – Crowing of the Homecoming Queen and King; recognition of the Alumni and Honorary Alumnus of the Year; Performances by the Alumni Band and the Sound of the South marching band. ###
