Troy University Theatre presents “Picasso at the Lapin Agile”
   TROY –  The Troy University Theatre will kick off its theater season with “Picasso at the Lapin Agile” by Steve Martin Oct. 23-25 and Oct. 28 in the Trojan Center Theater.
 
The play, written by Steve Martin is a comical and lighthearted play about a fictional meeting between Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso, set at the Paris tavern in 1904 and before both men achieved great status.
 
Play times for performances Oct. 23-25 are 7:30 p.m. The performance on Oct. 28 begins at 2:30 p.m.
 
Picasso is played by Douglas L. Watkins, a freshman theatre major from Madison and Einstein is played by sophomore theatre major Brett Warnke of Huntsville.
 
“It’s a goofy look at geniuses not at work,” said play director Alexander Stephano.
 
Other cast members include William Moody, a freshman theatre major from Orange Beach who will play “Freddy,” Caroline Franklin, a freshman from Lexington, Kent. who will play “Suzanne,” Jake Askey, a senior theatre major from Orange Park, Fla. who will play “Sagot,” Brittany Heitling, a freshman theatre major from Eustis, Fla. who will play “The Countess,” Alex Piper, a sophomore theatre education major from Cullman who will play “Gaston,” Jessica Hyatt, a senior theatre major from Greenville who will play “Germaine,” Nathan Benton, a junior theatre major from Hoover who will play “the visitor from the future,” and Megan Murphy, a senior theatre major from Ozark who will play “a female admirer.”
 
Tickets for “Picasso at the Lapin Agile” are on sale now at the Trojan Box Office. Reserved seating is $5. Students with ID are admitted free. For ticket information, call 334-670-3293.
