TROY -- The Troy University School of Art is hosting an exhibition featuring the photographic works of Russ and Wendy Kwan.
The exhibit is currently open and free to the public at the Malone Gallery through Sept. 20, when Russ and Wendy will give a special presentation and lecture beginning at 4 p.m. A reception in their honor will be held directly following the lecture.
“The Kwans are internationally recognized, and it’s an honor for their work to be on display in TROY’s Malone Gallery,” said Greg Skaggs, an assistant professor of art who is coordinating the exhibit. “Their work with silver gelatin printing provides a unique perspective for our students and our gallery.”
Russel and Wendy Kwan are a husband-and-wife team from Vancouver, Canada. The Kwan’s most recent concentration in photography is capturing light. Entitled “Chasing Light Strangers,” the exhibit shares its title with the Kwan’s latest book.
The book garnered third-place honors in the Professional Book category at the 2007 PX3 Prix de la Photographie Paris. Chasing Light Strangers was selected from more than 8,000 entries representing 85 countries.
Greg Skaggs, an assistant professor of art of Troy University, studies the use of light in “Paper Prayers,” one of the photographs by Russel and Wendy Kwan, the husband-and-wife team whose photographic artwork is currently on display in the Malone Gallery.
