Troy University’s College of Education Unveils its Unified “Conceptual Framework”

Montgomery, AL - The College of Education on the Montgomery Campus will unveil its unified “Conceptual Framework” for the preparation of teacher candidates and instructional support personnel during a reception at 4:45 p.m. Feb. 19 in Whitley Hall, Room 141.

Teacher education programs on the Montgomery, Troy, Dothan and Phenix City campuses will seek accreditation for their united curriculum by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

The revised framework will help unify the program philosophically before the College of Education seeks accreditation as a single unit this year, according to Dr. Lance Tatum, dean of the College of Education.

“The Conceptual Framework is the philosophy by which we prepare teachers,” Tatum said.  “It is a way to communicate the philosophical foundation of what’s important to the Troy University College of Education and how we prepare teachers and instructional support personnel.”

The College of Education on the Montgomery Campus offers an undergraduate degree in psychology.  Graduate degrees are offered in elementary education, adult education, post-secondary education, school counseling, school psychometry, community counseling, rehabilitation counseling and substance abuse counseling.
