| EDITORS/NEWS DIRECTORS: A number of interesting events are upcoming at Troy University. These events are open for coverage. As always, if your organization has any special coverage requirements, please contact the University Relations Office. Medieval Demonstration Feb. 22, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Troy University's MediEvolution Project and the International Student Cultural Organization will conduct a Medieval Demonstration on Shackelford Quad on the Troy Campus. This event features the Society for Creative Anachronism, a non-profit educational organization devoted to the study of the Middle Ages. The event will feature weapons demonstration, dance, arts and crafts, and much more. The International Student Cultural Organization (ISCO) is an organization devoted to promoting cultural exchange and understanding between international and American students. The Troy University English Department's MediEvolution Project promotes medieval studies through popular outreach, such as this demonstration. Brass Symposium and Festival of Brass Concert Feb. 22 – 23: Troy University’s John M. Long School of Music and the Troy Arts Council will present its 10th Annual Brass Symposium Feb. 22 – 23, culminating in the Festival of Brass Concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23. Attorney General to speak on Troy Campus Feb. 26: Alabama Attorney General Troy King will be speaking at Troy University on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. in Room 101 of the General Academic Building. The speech is sponsored by the Troy University chapter of College Republicans. National Association of Black Journalists hosts “Showtime at the Crosby” Feb. 26: The Troy University chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists will host “Showtime at the Crosby” at 7 p.m. in Crosby Theatre as part of the University’s Black History Month. Celebration March and Rally scheduled Feb. 28: The Troy University chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will conduct a march and rally beginning at 4:45 p.m. in Sartain Hall’s parking lot. The march will cross campus to Sorrell Chapel where a short program will take place. Internationally recognized psychotherapist to lecture at Phenix City March 1 – Phenix City: Dr. Donald Meichenbaum, one of the founders of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, will conduct a workshop focusing on the treatment of individuals with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and comorbid disorders at the Phenix City Campus of Troy University, March 1, beginning at 8 a.m. EDT and ending at 3:30 p.m. The workshop is open to the public and allows participants to earn 5.5 contact hours of continuing education credit. |
