TROY—Students from Troy University are traveling to Montgomery for the weekend of Feb. 28-March 1 to participate in the Alabama YMCA Collegiate Legislature.

Founded in 1995, this program allows students to have a first-hand experience of legislation in the making.  Students are able to debate important issues, to have opportunities to meet elected officials, and to develop personal leadership skills.

The Legislature also provides workshops in lobbying and ethics.  “This hands-on learning experience provides college students with a better understanding of the legislative process in Alabama, and the elements necessary for effecting positive change through legislative procedure,” according to the YMCA Collegiate Legislature web site.

There are 14 students from TROY who are attending the conference.  These students are:
