TROY—Troy University and Pusan University of Foreign Studies agreed Tuesday to establish a “2 plus 2” agreement that will send students from South Korea to study at Troy University.
Dr. Jack Hawkins, Troy University Chancellor, and Dr. Yoo Sun-gyu, President of Pusan University of Foreign Studies (PUFS) signed the agreement Tuesday morning in the Chancellor’s Office on the Troy Campus. Under the “2 plus 2” model, students will complete two years of undergraduate study at the PUFS campus in Namsandong, Busan, in South Korea and then transfer to Troy University to complete the final two years of the baccalaureate degree program.
The “2 plus 2” degree will be offered primarily in the social sciences, but other undergraduate programs may be added at the consent of both universities. Since 2003, the two universities have collaborated on a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) program, as TROY professors have visited Korea to lecture at PUFS.
The agreement calls for faculty exchange between the two universities. Troy University officials said this program may pave the way for study-abroad opportunities to send U.S. students to Korea.
In addition, Troy University played host this week to a delegation of administrators from Qafqaz University, a private Turkish University in Baku, Azerbaijan. Dr. Ahmet Sanic, Rector, led the delegation, which toured the Troy Campus and discussed a partnership with TROY officials.
