January 29, 2008 Dr. Dennis Kimbro helps Troy University kick off Black History Month TROY – An internationally renowned author and researcher will kick off Troy University’s University Activities Council’s Black History Month Jan. 30. Dr. Dennis Kimbro will deliver the keynote address at the UAC’s kickoff program at 7:30 p.m. in the Claudia Crosby Theatre on the Troy Campus. As a lecturer and researcher in the field of management, entrepreneurship and human potential, he encourages his readers to look within to extract the keys that underlie all accomplishment. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Oklahoma, and a doctorate from Northwestern University where he studied wealth and poverty among underdeveloped countries. With his course work behind him, Dr. Kimbro combed the country interviewing scores of America’s most notable achievers. Eventually his inquisition led to the question: How can impoverished African Americans pull themselves out of poverty and reach their full potential? Other events for Black History Month include the African American Leadership Conference Feb. 1-2 on the second floor of the Trojan Center. Student registration is $10 and $30 for non-students.
