TROY- Troy University’s Hall School of Journalism will host its annual M. Stanton Evans Symposium on March 27 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in Claudia Crosby Theater on the Troy Campus.

The theme of this year’s symposium is “Politics in the Media: Who influences Who?”

Chris Warden, professor of journalism, said that they chose the theme because of the political season.  “It will be interesting to see what the media thinks about the presidential race,” said Warden.

The symposium will begin with a short discussion period and will end with a question and answer session.

The panel will consist of Phillip Rawls of The Associated Press in Montgomery, Leesha Faulkner of The Selma Times Journal, Bob Howell of WSFA-TV in Montgomery, Terry Jones of Investors Business Daily and student editors and news directors.

Evans, holder of the Buchanan Chair of Journalism for the Hall School of Journalism since 1980, graduated from Yale University with an English degree. He has held many  positions in the journalism industry including editor of the Indianapolis News for 15 years, director of the National Journalism Center, columnist for the Los Angeles Times, and national commentator for CBS Radio News and National Public Radio. He is also the author of eight books, the latest being “The Theme is Freedom.”

The symposium is open to the public and admission is free.
