HOBY Alabama Youth Leadership Seminar

May 29 – June 1: The Hugh O’Brien Youth Foundation’s Alabama Leadership Seminar will be conducted on the Troy Campus through June 1.

Modeled after HOBY’s World Leadership Congress, and part of the HOBY program, the seminar provides an opportunity to build on leadership skills already possessed by the student ambassadors. Students are nominated by their respective high schools and are chosen to attend based on emerging leadership ability, the ability to work well with others, a desire for new pursuits and a willingness to learn and share.

Students will hear from a wide variety of speakers on volunteerism, public and civic service and current events. They will also develop skits, write papers and meet with business and government leaders during the weekend.

Following is a schedule of events for the seminar:

Thursday, May 29:
    
5:30 p.m. – 10 p.m.: Pre-seminar set up and staff training  
     
Friday, May 30:    
9 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.: Student registration Trojan Village
11 a.m. – Noon: Opening Session Crosby Theatre
Noon – 1:30 p.m.: Opening Luncheon

9 p.m. – 11 p.m.: Dance Trojan Center
     
Saturday, May 31:    
9 a.m. – 10 a.m.: Photo session Stadium
10:30 a.m. – Noon: Session Various locations
12:15 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.: Business Leaders Luncheon Trojan Center
1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.: Session Various locations
3:15 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.: Session/Service Project Trojan Center
8 p.m. – 11 p.m.: Program Crosby Theatre
     
Sunday, June 1:    
7 a.m. – 8 a.m.: Prayer Breakfast  
8:15 a.m. – 9 a.m.: Session/Motivational Speaker Crosby Theatre
9:15 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.: Session Various locations
11 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.: Parent’s Orientation Sartain Hall
11 a.m. – Noon: Closing Remarks Crosby Theatre
Noon – 2 p.m.: Reception Sartain Hall
