October 27, 2008 Marjorie Yessick crowned Miss Troy University TROY – Marjorie Yessick was crowned Miss Troy University Sunday afternoon at the 38th annual pageant to earn the right to represent the University in next year’s Miss Alabama Pageant. Yessick, a freshman nursing major from Northport, is the daughter of Mary and Eddie Yessick. In addition to winning the votes of the judges, Yessick won the People’s Choice. Yessick was crowned by Amber Dodson of Cullman, Miss Troy University 2008. Contestants competed in private interview, casual wear, swimsuit, talent, evening wear and on-stage question. Other members of the top five were: First runner-up Megan Picklesimer, a sophomore broadcast journalism major from Chelsea; second runner-up Allison Farrington, a senior science education major from Andalusia; third runner-up Tyler Looney, a senior elementary education major from Sylacauga; and, fourth runner-up Caitlyn Wade, a sophomore broadcast journalism major from Opelika. Kathryn Hobgood, a junior biology major from Semmes, was named Miss Congeniality. Aaron Taylor of TrojanVision television served as emcee for the event.
