September 26, 2008 UPDATE: Crane lift of College of Education Building palladium Sept. 29: A process to place the palladium atop Jack Hawkins Jr. Hall at Troy University will begin at 7 a.m. This will substantially complete the exterior construction phase of the new building that will house the College of Education, a process that began with the demolition of Dill Hall.The actual lifting of the structure approximately 175 feet in the air is expected to commence at 7:30 a.m. At the longest, the process will take one hour to complete, but, depending on wind conditions, could be over in 30 minutes. Media are requested to set up in front of the building on University Avenue (on the “Thinker” statue side of the street, or another angle is possible from the Sartain Hall side of the building. The crane will be positioned in front of the building. The palladium structure will be lifted from the front side of the building. Please be aware that University Avenue will be closed during this process. We will attempt to provide access to media vehicles to the Shackleford Quad, but this process may change depending on construction requirements. If the Shackleford Quad is inaccessible, parking may be found near Smith Hall on the street in front of the main Quad, or in the Sartain Hall parking lot, or in front of Pace Hall. Contact: |
