Memorial Service for Dr. Don C. Hines set for Oct. 5

A memorial service and reception will be held on Monday, October 5, at 5 p.m. in the Claudia Crosby Theater at Troy University, Troy, AL, to honor Dr. Don C. Hines, who passed away after losing his battle with cancer on August 26, 2009.

Dr. Hines spent much of his career in the Alabama higher education system. He served as president of the University of West Alabama in Livingston, AL, from 1994-1998 after serving as Dean of the School of Business in the1980’s. He served as Dean of the Sorrell College of Business, Troy University, twice in his career.
Between his tenure at the University of West Alabama and Troy University, he served on the cabinet of Gov. Guy Hunt’s administration as division chief of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA). Dr. Hines was instrumental in starting a rodeo team at both The University of West Alabama (Don C. Hines Rodeo Complex) and Troy University.

We welcome everyone who has known or worked with him both at Troy University and in the wider Alabama community to join his friends and family in a celebration of his life and legacy.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Don C. Hines College of Business Scholarship Fund. Donations can be mailed to the Troy University Foundation, 1120 US Highway 231, Troy, AL 36082 noting the Don C. Hines College of Business Scholarship Fund.
