August 14, 2009 TROY to offer workshops on financial investing for individuals DOTHAN—The Continuing Education Center at Troy University’s Dothan Campus will host a weekly series of workshops on financial investing for individuals starting Sept. 3. The workshops will be held each Thursday in September. The four-session series will present an overview of investing information designed to provide individuals with a greater understanding of financial and investment topics. Session one will focus on basic investment terms and concepts and understanding the difference between managing investments and working with a financial advisor. Session two will provide principles of sound investing. Session three will provide those nearing retirement with guidelines to help achieve a successful retirement experience, and session four will provide an introduction to estate planning. Other discussions will include beneficiaries, creating a will, reducing taxes, gifting strategies and charitable giving. Participants may register for the full series or individual sessions.
